The project is funded by the [**Heritage Lottery Fund**](https://www.hlf.org.uk/ "Heritage Lottery Fund")and is run by [**Islington Heritage**](https://bevincourt.wordpress.com/ "Bevin Court Community Project") for Islington Council. [**Bevin Court**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bevin_Court "Bevin Court") is one of several [**modernist**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modernist_architecture "Modernist Architecture") housing projects in [**London**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London "London") designed in the immediate post-war period by the [**Tecton**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tecton_Group "Tecton Group, Architects") architecture practice, led by [**Berthold Lubetkin**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berthold_Lubetkin "Berthold Lubetkin"). Following the dissolution of Tecton, the project was realised by [**Lubetkin**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubetkin "Berthold Lubetkin"), [**Francis Skinner**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Skinner_(architect) "Francis Skinner") and Douglas Carr Bailey. The project was completed in 1954. The building incorporates a pleasing mural in the ground hall entranceway painted by Lubetkin's collaborator [**Peter Yates**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Yates,_artist_and_architect "Peter Yates"). This still exists, but is significantly deteriorated having been subjected to both the elements and vandalism. It has also been insensitively painted over in places using common house paint. Notably, the building successfully made significant use of prefabricated floor and wall components. The building was given [**grade II listed status**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listed_building "Listing Buildings") in December 1998[[2]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bevin_Court#cite_note-2) and has subsequently undergone restoration by the [**London Borough of Islington**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Borough_of_Islington "London Borough of Islington"). ***Wikipedia*** ![**bevin-court-mural-peter-yates-for-lubetkin-1954**](https://www.odechair.com/blog/files/bevan-court-mural-peter-yates-for-lubetkin-1954.jpg) **More information:** [**Bevin Court Restauration Community**](https://bevincourt.wordpress.com/ "Bevin Court Community Project") The **Amwell Society** publishes an interpretation of the **Peter Yates Mural** at **Bevin Court**.
